A Roger Hall penned, solo show. There's a 40min first half, a 40min second half with a drinks break in the middle, then after match drinks in the bar afterwards. Gavin Rutherford plays Dickie Hart, an older man who's got a great return on milk prices. He has taken a place on a tour to South Africa for the rugby world cup in 1995. Dickie is a raconteur. He tells us his stories and even though we know where it's likely to end up we indulge him and laugh. Rutherford works hard on the mostly bare stage under school-hall-feel lights. He is very entertaining.
At the after match drinks we were remembering where we were when the All Blacks lost. Someone said they didn't really understand what it meant to South Africa to win. It was more than a game. It represented something new for the country. If the result doesn't go our way again, will it represent something new for our country?
